The dawn

Ok, one day closer till "senior '09" means anything to anyone. tomorrow, i'll be at school taking care of the littleuns before classes start on thursday, I'm pretty keen and ready to make 2009 the best in 1000 different ways.... study, music, mates, family... love....

My sister is getting married in less than two weeks now. Feb 7th.
Pretty darned excited, I'm a groomsmen too, wow... Pete's a great guy and his mates are cool too. Saturday night was his bucks night o i tagged along with 16-17 22-23 year olds to Victoria Point golf course, smashed some golf balls, ate heaps of pizza and watched all these twenty-somethings get wasted off their heads... sometimes it really sucks being under-age. Not to mention missing out on concerts. see below.

How's this for a shot?

Half Absynth
Half Apple Liquer
Chilli on top.

1 - light it
2 - blow it out
3 - shot it
4 - bite that fucking chilli
5 - cough and scream

that there combination meant an early night for some of the boys.

But yeah, super pumped for a new year, fuck anyone who's going to get in my way or slow me down, I'm moving forward now more than ever.

It's time for something new.

It's been a whil since I've blogged and it would seem that I'm not keeping to that promise i made to blog every week, but i'll try and average it out :)

holidays are nearly over and im so keen to get into school for the last time
ive had a really hectic week with heaps of hings happening, a party last saturday was pretty tops it was amy's 17, but way too many people got blind drunk for my liking, but all the same a good night, after i got over that i worked a bit and hung out with some mates too, ethen gave me an amp which i cleaned up and its looking pretty good but i might fully redo it yet, we'll see.
thursday night.... i dont know how to explain it, i ended up drunk in a hotel bed with 3 others in minimal clothing after going to southbank to just 'hang out'... but wow what a night.

Now after sleeping off that night im back to business as usual with work on tomorrow. :F

but on both of these drunken occasions (wow how ironic, im listening to 'do you party?' by amity... well apparently i do... to kill the time to kill the boredom, drink till we drop.... because?: we're not here for a long time) but on these occasions some things have happened: not for blog viewers eyes or ears but theyve made me think... about alot of things, made me realise that I'm going to do alot more thinking over this next year, and you'll see it all right here, so stay tuned folks:

on saturday, i saw someone ive missed heaps and had to think about stuff and talk with this person a bit, and on thursday night, i saw some people i hadnt seen in even longer, and i had to think further on certain issues and over the past few days ive been tearing my hair out thinking... one thing about me is that my brain never stops until complete exhaustion.

i find it hard to sleep because im thinking too hard about pointless shit but all the same, my mind never stops.

so tahts the deeper side of this blog over and done with.
Kate Miller-Heidke

now for the brighter topics!!!

that chickadee up there is kate miller-heidke, shes a huge influence and awesome musician, and she studied at the conservatorium too!
the whole point of this rant however is to let all you brissy dudes know you can catch her and heaps more at hear and now festival on australia day.

IF

you're over 18...

im pretty filthy about that but oh well.

heres the link anywho

enjoy.

I've also just realised, i might not be ale to make the misery signals/amity/confession show at the red room coz im leaving for a wedding next day but i'll try pretty hard!

I've spent heaps of time the last few days playing a buttload of music, learning new stuff and brushing up further on theory which i really need to do to get into the conservatorium at the end of the year

IF

i choose not to take gap year, which is being taken into very serious consideration pending movement of other issues at the moment, maybe i could work for a year as well a playing lots of music maybe even session work at some point if i play my cards right, cant wait to see how that turns out!

2009 is going to be great
I'm going to make sure it is
I learnt the bass line to Billie Jean today
I worked this arvo
I'm excited about seeing some mates soon
I'm listening to The Hurricane by Bob Dylan
It reminds me of the movie, obviously...
Denzel Washington was good in that
Damn what a good song
But I'm too young to comment on the situation
I need to relearn how to sight read
Maybe I'll start doing that tomorrow
Now I'm listening to U.S.Anus by Frenzal Rhomb
It's a real fuck you to those patriotic dumbasses
Good on them
It's a bit more than two months till i can get my P's
Fuck you public transport
I guess that means I can drive around to places and get a bit more serious with music
I'm pretty keen on playing in a band now
We'll see how that goes this year too
That'd be peachy
Rachael is cool check out her blog
Haha now I'm listening to Boys of Summer by The Eagles
It's so damn cheesy
Today i realised some people are just assholes, one was driving my bus this morning: he stopped to let me on then he drove passed these other people who were about to get on, one of which was a pregnant lady, see you in hell you jerk. Some guy on the bus had a go at him, I would've chimed in too but who wants to hear from a 16 year old with a backpack? pretty funny conversation between the two of them though well it was more yelling but that arrogant driver deserved it.
Fantastic.
Have a great week everyone.

Happy New Year

Happy new year to everyone and welcome to 2009... wow. What better time to start a new blog and document what will be my final year in high school, and the future from that point on. It's kind of a scary thought but I'm keen to get into it and get school over and done with!

In a nutshell I'm Ben Webster a 16 year old Brisbane kid who plays/writes/performs/watches a lot of music and likes all the other 16 year old shit too. this blog is something for me to look back on far enough down the track and also to communicate to anyone else who is into the same kinda stuff.

So i started this blog because of one guy, I'm gonna call him a hero, who has an awesome blog and is just an incredible dude. His name is Joel Birch, life to him seems to embody only love, laughter and creativity. It's people like this that capture your imagination and make you think anything is possible; the dude runs graphic designs, sings in the most kick-ass band of all time and takes incredible photos. You should definitely check out his blog at some point too: http://www.thekingdomofsadmachines.com/tkosmblog/index.html

So cool, music yeah? Well i play bass and acoustic guitar and sing a bit too, I dig all sorts of Aussie hardcore to acoustic stuff and I'm sure you'll hear me ramble about some bands in future posts. Performing is a pretty great experience and I love it as well as writing stuff on acoustic. Seeing bands live is quite the past time of mine too, all around Brisbane there are great shows almost every week, and they need support so get along and see them and buy a shirt. I plan to post a few links to great music venues and maybe give a few details on great shows coming up.

But for now, best of luck in the new year to everyone who reads and comes back for more posts too.

Best Wishes,
Ben
